Honda’s motobike led a press release announcing the return of the CBR600RR, Fury, Gold Wing, NC750X and Rebel 1100 with the news that they would be bringing their miniMOTO Navi here. That small bike range already includes the Grom, Monkey, Cub and Trail125, with Navi becoming the new entry level, expanding the definition of “moto”. Honda’s Motorcycle and Scooter division in India started with the Activa scooter sold in Asia and redesigned it to look like Navi for the local market. Navi went on sale in 2016 in India, lasted three years in India before retiring, but is still sold in export markets. Currently including the US. The 90 mm wide MRF Zapper tires lead us to believe that these tires will be imported from the factory in Tapukara, Rajasthan, India, MRF is an Indian corporation over 70 years old.
Based on a scooter, Navi has all kinds of features that are friendly for beginners to cyclists. The saddle is only 30.1 inches high. There’s a carbureted 110 cc four-stroke engine that sends power to the rear wheels via a belt-driven V-Matic CVT transmission. Just twist the handle and go – but not too fast. Simplicity continues with the 130 mm . drum brake front and rear, front mounted handbrake. With a full 0.9-gallon tank of gas, the package weighs 236 pounds and Honda claims EPA energy saving at 110.3 miles per gallon. That, of course, doesn’t include anything stuffed in the lockable, removable 0.53 cubic foot storage compartment that sits low between the rider’s feet. Tracking a vehicle’s speed and mileage is done with analog fuel and tachometers. For the old school, the electric starter has a spare kick.
All of this can be yours for an extremely low price and specifically $1,807. That gets a Navi in one of the four colour: Green grasshopper; Nut Brown; forest ranger Green; and red. Honda has teamed up with motorcycle apparel company Icon and hunting apparel company TrueTimber on graphic packages, if those colors aren’t enough to strike a deal. It will be available in most of the US by January 2022, California has to wait until February.
