Honda EV battery factory, Hyundai OTA update, BYD EV car for Europe: Car News Today


Honda shows just how committed it is to future electric cars that will launch in the middle of the decade. BYD confirms details of electric car going to Europe. And models from Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis will all receive ongoing updates — and feature upgrades — capabilities over the course of a few years. This and more, here Green Car Report.

Hyundai has announced that over-the-air update capabilities are coming soon for all Hyundai, Genesis and Kia vehicles by 2025, with Feature On-Demand services for select models added a new revenue stream for Hyundai. It also moves its EVs to two new modular platforms, one of which will allow for a 50% increase in range over the current EV.

Honda and LG Energy Solution have confirmed the details of their joint venture battery plant in Ohio, due to manufacturing up to 40 gigawatt-hours annually for future Honda EVs. Honda is also making additional investments in surrounding plants in Ohio to form an electric vehicle manufacturing hub.

China’s BYD has confirmed the prices of the Atto 3 compact crossover, the larger Han sedan and the Tang three-row crossover for the brand’s European launch. All three BYD EV model for Europe will use BYD’s latest Blade batteries, with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell chemistry, and the Atto 3 can be quickly charged at 800 volts.
