General Motors confirmed this morning that they have a supply target home energy system in 2024 Chevy Silverado EV—Capable of backing up at home during power outages. It’s part of a broader announcement of a new entrant into the field of “cohesive energy management,” far beyond EVs themselves.
Taiwanese company Foxconn recently agreed to build early versions of the Indi One EV in Ohio, was one of its contract manufacturing at the former GM assembly plant that also built the Lordstown Endurance and Fisker Pear. It is also rolling out prototype versions of two “self-developed” vehicles – an electric hatchback and an electric pickup – that are part of the budding Foxtron EV brand.
And according to a new UC Berkeley poll, although a majority of Californians support the state’s EV plan, which will ban the sale of gas-powered cars by 2035, positions on it are highly partisan. It found that 77% of registered Democrats supported the plan while 81% of Republicans opposed the plan. However, a poll last year found that despite partisanship, Americans overwhelmingly view electric vehicles as better for the environment.
