HIMSS22 in Riyadh: Ten expert recommendations to help reshape healthcare in MENA



Healthcare digitalization leaders and thinkers from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and other regions gathered at the HIMSS 2022 Middle East Medical Conference & Exhibition for three days world-class education and programming. Held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from November 19 to 21, the event concluded with a promising proposed roadmap to reimagine the future of healthcare.

In the closing remarks regarding the recommendations of the conference, Dr. Taghreed Justinia, Regional Director for IT Services, Technology and Health Informatics at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University of Health Sciences, co. served as HIMSS 50’s Future Healthcare IT Lead and HIMSS Blockchain Task Force Member, presenting the audience with a series of recommendations under five themes.

TEN RECOMMENDATIONS CONFERENCE

With the first theme “Digital Health: Transforming in Action”, Dr. Justinia reiterated the importance of long-term strategy and investment, stating: “Under the first theme, [HIMSS22 Midde East’s] first recommendation [is to] design digital transformation strategies where governance is seen as a continuous and iterative process [that is] integrated into services and workflows from the outset and throughout.

“We’re next [also] recommends enhancing the capabilities and capabilities needed for data privacy, security, and resilience through long-term investments and infrastructure, [as well as] software, technology and human resources.”

With a second theme including “Integrating through data and technology”, Dr. Justinia explains that HIMSS22 Middle East’s proposed roadmap is to “develop national and regional policies to manage the use of health data, ensuring privacy and protection, with a focus on safer care when integrating health services.”

She continued: “We [also] recommends building robust IT systems that can deliver sustainable and responsible care by integrating data across multiple stakeholders across regional and national platforms.”

HOW TO ACCESS DATA TO PROVIDE SERVICES

Under the third theme “Digital Health: Impact and Benefits”, Dr. Justinia stated that HIMSS22 Middle East has recommended that the region create a “national registry with encrypted, accessible data” structured and standardized data, for patient identification and disease management.

Dr. Justinia concludes by saying: “We also recommend recruiting, training and retaining leadership and digital health workforce through continuous, professional development and career paths. worthy career. We really hope that all these recommendations will come to fruition in the Middle East.”

CLOSE COMMENTS

In his closing remarks, Professor Amr Jamal, consultant, family physician and clinical informant, and chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at King Saud University, express gratitude to the Middle East scientific and organizational committees HIMSS22 for helping to shape the conference and exhibition .

The organizing committee consists of: Waleed Albahli, Faiz AlRasheedi, Ahood Alshahrani and Areej Al-Shehri of the National Center for Health Information, along with Aloudah of the Saudi Medical Council, Professor Jamal and Dr. Balkhair.

HIMSS Middle East Medical Exhibition & Conference 2022 is held under the patronage of Mr. Eng. Fahad Al-Jalajel, Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Health Council of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Medical Professional Committee and the National Center for Health Information.
