Hideo Kojima Kojima Producers Will Remain Independent
After the acquisition rumor, Hideo Kojima took to Twitter to reaffirmed that Kojima Productions will remain an independent studio. Rumors started circulating after the Sony Twitter account changed the title to include an image of the main character of Death Stranding. Hours later, Kojima tweeted an image of the title on his personal Twitter account. This has led some users to speculate that Kojima Productions will be acquired by Sony or that there will be an announcement of a potential acquisition.

However, Hideo Kojima has quashed these rumors and announced that Kojima Productions will remain independent. In November 2021, Kojima Productions opens a music and television division. According to business development director Yoshiko Fukada of Kojima Productions, the purpose of the division is to create new avenues for entertainment and interaction among audiences. However, potential projects from the division have yet to be announced.
In December 2021 and January 2022, Kojima started new projects. In December 2021, Kojima mentioned in a column with Famitsu that he is currently working two new projects related to the game. He describes one of these titles as “big”, while the other is “challenging”. In January 2022, Kojima tease a new project via an image shared on Twitter of his desktop. However, it remains unclear whether the project introduced in January 2022 has anything to do with the two games he is working on.
