Headshot photographers: Your personality is everything

One of the most important but most overlooked aspects of being a successful portrait and portrait photographer is the photographer’s personality. In fact, I think your photographer personality can be a determining factor in your success when working with clients.

Before I continue, it is important to determine the character of the word, as it can have several meanings and what I am referring to in the accompanying video may not be what you think. Usually, you’ll hear people say things like “she has a great personality” or “I don’t like his personality” and the like, but this is not what I mean at all. in this term. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word personality as: “the totality of an individual’s behavioral and emotional characteristics,” and this definition is close to what I discuss in the video. I’m not talking about you having a boisterous or loud personality, but rather your own unique personality, whatever that may be.

In my personal experience, success as a photographer begins when I stop trying to act like someone else, and just decide to be me when working with my clients. From the beginning, I tried to imitate my mentor in my speech and manners, but quickly realized that wasn’t right for me, because it wasn’t me. In the video, I discuss these issues in detail. I hope you like it!
