The Jockeys’ Association, the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Foundation (PDJF) and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), along with racetracks across the United States, announced today that riders will compete on Saturday, July 30 (or another mutually agreed upon date that week when the tracks are not racing on that day) shall honor National Disability Independence Day and to raise awareness of formula and funds for the PDFF. Last year’s event raised more than $50,000 at racetracks around the country.
Runners at about 20 racecourses are expected to participate in various activities to support the PDJF while also celebrating National Day of Persons with Disabilities, marking the 32nd anniversary of the passage of the Act.
