Group 1 Winner Technician to Stand at Haras de Montaigu

Technician , a son of the late Mastercraftsman who won the Prix Royal-Oak (G1) for Martyn Meade and Team Valor in 2019, will stand at Haras de Montaigu in France for the upcoming breeding season.

The gray trainee broke his maiden as a 3-year-old and captured 5 of 9 starts that year, highlighted by victories in the Unibet Geoffrey Freer Stakes (G3), Qatar Prix Chaudenay (G2), and the Prix Royal-Oak over high-class French stayer Call The Wind.

In his only start as a 4-year-old, he finished seventh in the Gold Cup at Ascot (G1) where he injured a tendon in the race and was retired.

Bred by Barronstown Stud, Technician sold to Dermot Farrington for €40,000 (US$47,180) at the Goffs Orby Sale in 2017.

Technician is the seventh foal out of the winning Sadler’s Wells mare Arosa, a full sister to dual European group 2 scorer Crimson Tide and Cork group 3 scorer Tamarind, as well as a half sibling to Garden City Breeders’ Cup Handicap (G2T) and French One Thousand Guineas (G1) fourth Pharatta.
