Paradise Farms and multi-stakes winner by David Staudacher Barese will cut the gap in the Times Square division of the April 23 Stallion Stakes chain $200,000 for 3-year-olds racing 6 1/2 furlongs at Aqueduct race track. The qualifying sophomore sprint main track is the favorite in New York.
Trained by Mike Maker, a New Yorker breeder Laoban colt last Thursday in the Wood Memorial Stakes presented by Resorts World Casino (G2) on April 9 at Big A. He walked into the Wood Memorial Stakes from a state-breed win at the Aqueduct during winning 6 1/2 long-haired Park Stakes in January and one mile per kilometer Gander Stakes on February 12.
Maker said he was pleased with Barese Wood Memorial’s effort after breaking from the outermost 8 turret and following four times wide through both turns, missing fourth by a shot AP’s Secret .
“I think he ran a great race, he just wasn’t good enough,” Maker said. “He continues to train well and we are looking for some relief in the class.”
Air conditioning does not rule out the possibility of a future return to road racing for $150,000 in 2001 by Fasig-Tipton Florida Select 2-Year-Olds in Training, who earned a career and 89 Speed Icon. Beyer best in his two plays debut.
“I think he could get two passes into the right company,” Maker said.

Unique Unions finished fourth last in Rego Park, setting pace under casual pilot Manny Franco in a race won by Barese.
Schosberg said Unique Unions, who will exit an inside position under Franco, are practicing well to return, including a half-mile breeze in: 50.66 last Saturday Belmont Park Dirt training track.
“He is doing very well. After his last race, we decided to give him some time,” Schosberg said. “He’s done a lot in a short amount of time and we really like him. We think he has a solid future to be a top New York hybrid, so we do. I refreshed him a bit and let him put on some weight.”
Schosberg says Unique Unions has natural pace, but not necessarily the lead.
“I think it will be decided by the competition,” Schosberg said. “I don’t think he has to be in the lead and he doesn’t train that way. He’s very comfortable in his training. He’s not the type to get nowhere, he’s going when you ask. If someone outbursts him, which is unlikely, I think he has a chance to stalk and not let them get away.”
Unique union, apart from The Eltish mare Nicole’s Miss El , bred in New York by Larry F. Botting. He was purchased for $60,000 at the 2021 2-year-old Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Coaching Sales.
The playoffs are the first winners Mo Dancin and Mr. Larry , people add wink; as well as girls Tommy Gun , Red DGP and Kazmike .
