Grade 1 winner Timberlake will target Jerkens


While WinStar Farm and Siena Farm have fielded a contender for the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes (G1) when World record won the Amsterdam Stakes (G2) on July 26 Saratoga Race TrackSimilar connections could have a second entrant in the Level 1 sprint for 3 year olds.

A son of Into mischief Trained by Brad Cox, Timberlake finished third on July 20 as the second choice in the 1 1/8-mile Haskell Stakes (G1) at Monmouth Park while starting for the first time in four months.

“He ran well at Haskell but we’ll cut it down to seven furlongs,” Walden said. “He wants to hit the last two at a mile and an eighth so we’ll bring him back to Jerkens.”

The winner of the Champagne Stakes (G1) at No. 2, Timberlake finished fourth on March 30 in the 1 1/8-mile Arkansas Derby (G1) as the 6-5 favorite.
