Government issues 200 more free PSV bus permits for B40 in Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu
The government says it will provide 200 vocational service bus (PSV) permits free of charge to the B40 group in the east coast states. This is a supplement to the 500 PSV bus permits issued by the government allocated through the MyPSV program for 2023 was launched last week, Bernama report.
According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, these additional PSV permits are being made available through the Malaysian government agency Rail Link (MRL) and are aimed at people in the B40 group in Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu.
He said that the provision of these free PSV bus permits to B40s in these states was made not because of the upcoming state elections in Kelantan and Terengganu, but instead for social responsibility allocation. of business (CSR) to support the community.
Loke said the states selected by the MRL were involved in the implementation of the East Coast Railroad (ECRL) project and the CSR funds were deemed appropriate to give back to residents in these states. “It is a surplus of bank interest that we can allocate as a CSR allocation to help people,” he said.
He hopes bus companies operating trips from the Klang Valley to the eastern coastal states will partner on this initiative with the department of land transport (JPJ) so the program can connect potential bus drivers with companies, ensuring drivers will receive job offers after they complete their training and get their PSV license.
When announcing the MyPSV program last week, Loke said that in addition to supporting the B40 group, the initiative is also aimed at meeting the needs of the transportation industry, which currently has a chronic shortage of bus drivers. “The country needs thousands of bus drivers, not only from Prasarana but also from express bus companies and bus stops,” he said.
