Labrador Retriever is already America’s number one most popular dog breed since 1991. Despite reigning for more than 30 years, Labs still Not America’s most searched dog breed on Google.
That honor goes to their shorter, shorter cousin, the Bulldog. In fact, although they are popularly kept as pets, Labs are only the fourth most Google-researched breed by American dog lovers.
What are the top 10 most searched dog breeds in the country? And which dog breeds are of top interest to Googlers in each state?

“Based on Google search data compiled over the past 5 years, Bulldogs are the most searched dog breed in the United States in all but 13 states: Alaska, Idaho, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, New Hampshire, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and West Virginia. Those states favor three other breeds: the Labrador Retriever, the Siberian Husky and the German Shepherd. “

Why is “Bulldogs” so popular?
Bulldogs dominate Google searches for dogs in the US, but is it all about aesthetics? Or perhaps their popularity in viral videos? While Americans love the term “Bulldog” on Google, the breed is only sixth on AKC’s 2021 most popular dog breeds list, ranking dogs based on owner registrations from the previous year. .
Based on similar data, the Bulldog’s close cousin, the French Bulldog, is a number two in the United States. Onert expert Gary Bachman is writing a book about Frenchie’s popularity in the 19th century and modern art. As a father of the French Bulldog, he says, “the breed appeals to those with a refined taste” and “their cheerful personality is well suited to city life.”
