Based on The Hollywood Reporter, on Friday, Johnny’s daughter, Sharon Catherine Brown, took to social media to share that he passed away on Wednesday. She said, “Our family was devastated. Devastated. Devastated. Apart from grief. Can almost breathe. We respectfully ask for privacy at this time as we need a minute to process the unthinkable. ”
As she continued to express how much he means to their family, Sharon added, “He was literally taken from our lives. It’s still not real to us. So there will be more to say but not now. Dad is the best. We love him so much.”
Details of his departure were not provided at the time. However, donations are starting to pour in.
Johnny’s “Good Times” co-star Bern Nadette Stanis said, “I am heartbroken to hear the news of my close friend Johnny Brown, who played Bookmen on our show Good Times. I will remember all the stories about SammyDavis Jr. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and even John Wayne. His talent is immeasurable. He is a pleasure to work with. I will definitely remember his cheerful demeanor and bright smile. Praying for his family in every way. ”
