Rare’s 1997 Nintendo 64 Release GoldenEye 007 arguably one of the best video games of all time. The The Xbox 360 version, which never came to light due to licensing issues, was leaked last yearand since then, there have been constant rumors about this classic first-person shooter coming back in some way or form.
Now, before next week Introducing Xbox and Bethesda Games, the achievement for the title has appeared on the official Xbox website. As described by our sister site Pure Xbox:
“Each achievement also comes with screenshots from the game, and they seem to show that the game’s graphics are very similar to the original N64 version, especially the character models that look very blocky and low quality. “
Additionally, Rare employees have been reported to have played the game on Xbox. This discovery came through TrueAchievement – a website known for tracking Xbox achievements activity.
The rare Chief Engineer James Thomas (who goes by Gamertag ‘BIGsheep’) is apparently the one who was forced to crack the achievement (again). Thomas previously worked on N64 ports for Rare replay and was discovered six months ago the popping achievement in this unpublished release.
Although GoldenEye 007 has rumored to be coming much earlier this year, it is believed that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could lead to possible delays. These updates also follow from discover GoldenEye 007 is no longer banned in Germanythis also led to speculation about a possible re-release.
Of course, the big question on the Nintendo side is will this game come to Switch? Still there some debate about exactly what this new version might be, which may determine the platforms it is offered on.
