GM partners with Earthcruiser on Hummer Pickup EV Overlander

Pickup GMC Hummer EV there are tens of thousands of pre-ordersmany of that won’t be completed until next year, though that doesn’t stop GMC from preparing a road version of the Hummer EV Pickup Truck, in collaboration with Earthcruiser, the road outfit based in Oregon, GMC said on Thursday. Details are a bit scarce, but that doesn’t really matter at the moment, as deliveries aren’t going to start anytime soon, but this raises the question of whether there’s some form of simple use of the vehicle. conflict with complete electrification or not.

In case you lost it:

GMC’s press release is no less epic. “GMC and EarthCruiser work together to shape the future of the road,” they stopped altogether. The future of the road, like all! It sounds like a lot of fun until you stop and think: This is probably going to be heavier than what the Hummer EV Pickup already has, and so will probably have even less range.

Here are all the details about the GMC vehicle on offer today:

Working with EarthCruiser’s research and design division, ECI (EarthCruiser Innovations) and informed by their extensive experience in the field, GMC is collaborating on the design and development process for a The next-generation on-board solution for electric vehicles will be integrated into the HUMMER EV Pickup.

GMC and EarthCruiser have come together to share a vision to develop uncompromising, premier adventure vehicles that leverage EarthCruiser engineering technologies to create unique and innovative self-contained habitats, while still keep power and agility at the forefront.

GM says the Hummer EV Pickup Truck will have a “GM estimate” range of “350+” miles, which is not an EPA estimate, although you can expect that the EPA figure won’t be too far off. . GM also says that “actual range will vary based on a number of factors, including temperature, terrain, battery life, load, usage, and maintenance,” meaning if you’re off-road in this, then potentially less than 350 miles range. If your off-roading is even more equipped with Earthcruiser “upfit” accessories and also, you know, gear, for your Big Land Adventure, the weight will probably be even less. again.

So you’re looking at, maybe 250 miles max range? I don’t know, but that would make me really worried about the range – not the fake suburban stuff that doesn’t really exist: the start of a no-charge great unknown knowing that you’ve disabled even though this is supposed to be fun, damn it.

In an email, a GM spokesperson said, “There aren’t any more specs to share today as we’re only showcasing product images and the announcement of our partnership with EarthCruiser at this time. We’ll have a lot more to share later this summer as we reveal the full product.”
