A top General Motors executive has confirmed that the Chevrolet Silverado EV will launch in 2023, with production starting earlier that year.
Time, reported by Automotive News, earlier than the previously suggested late 2023 timeline, but it does set the Silverado EV — or Silverado E as it’s sometimes called — set to arrive after several other key electric trucks have already been launched. That competitive set will likely include Ford F-150 Lightning, is expected to reach customers next May and to some extent the Rivian R1T is just starting to reach customers.
The Silverado EV, which GM has claimed will offer a range of up to 400 miles, can also be seen alongside the Lightning as a traditional-looking counterpart to the radically different Tesla Cybertruck, detailed as part of the roadmap. Product update soon, with deliveries next year.

It won’t be GM’s first electric pickup, but it will be very different and more affordable price than GM’s first electric pickup, the GMC Hummer EV. Coming before the end of the year, it will cost $112,595 in Edition 1 form, with an estimated 329-mile range. Silverado runs on electricity because it runs on specialized electricity The “structural sandwich” approach used to form the GMC Hummer EV, but will focus on the accessibility that fleets can afford.
So far, GM has introduced a glass roof for the Silverado EV, as well as a Four-wheel drive system which it describes as a more maneuverable and steering aid than the Hummer EV’s terrain-focused Crab mode.

Ford conceived the F-150 Lightning on the same platform as the current F-150, but it doubled planned production to 80,000 units per year. Ford CEO Jim Farley said last week that it had plans for the Lightning successor to the full-size electric van, built on a dedicated EV platform, to arrive in the middle of the decade, for “extremely loud.”
The electric Silverado will be revealed at CES in Las Vegas on January 5.
