Four new cars join Gran Turismo 7:

Maserati Merak SS ’80

This high output model from Merak has been tuned for sharper performance.

The Maserati Merak is a mid-engined sports car introduced in 1972. It was developed to be a sister car to the Bora that had been introduced a year earlier. The exterior styling is very similar to the Bora, both designed by Giugiaro. However, while Bora is a fast defender, Merak is a full-back with a fast-forward style mainstay. This allows it to keep the same shape while making the car feel lighter and improving engine cooling. Similarly, while the Bora has a V8 engine, the Merak is powered by a 3L V6 187 BHP from the Citroen SM. With this more compact engine, the seating layout has changed to a 2+2 layout allowing for some luggage space. A high-performance model was later released in 1975 as the Merak SS. Compression ratio was increased and other adjustments were made to tune the engine to 216 BHP, increasing top speed from 139.8 mph to 155.3 mph.

Mazda Roadster NR-A (ND) ’22

This motorsport base model epitomizes the core concepts of the Roadster.

Released in 2015, the 4th generation ‘ND’ Roadster has received worldwide acclaim for its return to the original Roadster concept of ‘Jinba Ittai’ (“horse and rider moving together). move as one”). The essence of the ND is expressed at its purest in the NR-A level, a base model geared towards motorsport. The NR-A first joined the lineup on the 2nd generation ‘NB’ model, where it was introduced with the idea of providing an easy way for anyone to experience the joy of lap racing. .

These ideas are carried out in the revised ND version with a particular focus on sporty driving. The powerhouse frame that connects the transmission to the rear differential has been upgraded, along with accompanying components such as the drive shaft, LSD and differential box.

The radiator fan blades and brakes have also been upgraded, and the suspension uses height-adjustable dampers manufactured by Bilstein. Another useful feature is that the driver is now about to get statistics such as fuel consumption on the Multi-Information Display from the steering wheel-mounted audio control switches.

The 2022 model has further improvements, with the introduction of a new Dynamic Posture Control system that significantly increases rear stability. The options list also features racing gear like roll bars and bucket seats that make it easy to turn this car into a purebred racing machine. The NR-A could be the answer to many motorists’ prayers, providing plenty of fun on city roads as well as on the track.

Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110) ’73

Only 197 of these GT-R models were produced before it was unfortunately discontinued due to stricter emissions standards.

The C10 Skyline, nicknamed ‘Hakosuka’ (meaning boxy horizon), delivered the baton to a new model in September 1972. The new C110 model was nicknamed ‘Kenmeri’ from its advertising. it, and was an explosive hit after its debut. The body has a liquid form, bypassing all unnecessary sugars. However, it still has the surface lines and 4 round headlights that are the hallmarks of the Skyline.

The iconic GT-R returned to this Kenmeri the following year, in January 1973. The model code for this GT-R was the KPGC110, and it was powered by the same legendary engine, the S20 inline six. . There is no change in peak power of 157 BHP and maximum torque of 18 kgfm. The front strut and semi-drag rear suspension were the same as the GT-R before, but the new four-wheel disc brakes were an improvement for the time. Measuring 4,460 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,380 mm in height, it looks one size larger than the ‘Hakosuka’. If all goes well, this Kenmeri GT-R should have won multiple races as well, but what this car has to contend with is ever-increasing emissions regulations. The S20 is almost a pure racing engine and can’t get past this relentless claim. So Nissan made a difficult decision. After just 3 months and 197 cars built, this Kenmeri GT-R disappeared without a trace. Then Nissan demolished the iconic GT-R for 16 years, until returning to the R32.

Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 ’18”

A racing spec version of the GT-R for the GT3 category competition.

The Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 is a FIA GT3 regulated production racing car developed by Nismo based on Nissan’s GT-R R35 model. A GT3 version of the GT-R has been offered to customers since 2012, but since 2015 the base version has been changed to the GT-R Nismo which features improved body rigidity. The 2018 model has changed to a dry sump allowing the engine to be placed at approx. Lower 150 mm in the engine compartment to lower the center of gravity, and back 150 mm to optimize weight distribution. Front body stiffness has also been improved and the suspension and members for both front and rear have been redesigned to provide precise body feedback. The engine compartment layout has also received improvements with the radiators and internal intercoolers repositioned to provide better airflow and, as a result, better cooling. By fine-tuning the airflow, they have also succeeded in improving body stability on high-speed sections.
