Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia Generated 1.2 Million PPV Purchases


Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia is as big of a deal as people say.

The fight that took place last Saturday in Las Vegas generated about 1.2 million pay-per-view purchases in the US, sources say. Fight Freaks Unite. That’s the most buys for a sanctioned match since Canelo Alvarez-Gennadiy Golovin I in 2017 generated 1.3 million.

The Mike Tyson-Roy Jones show in 2020 has grossed 1.6 million reported hits.

Davis-Garcia also created an estimated $22.8 million live portal at T-Mobile Arena, with an announced audience count of 20,842. Highest dollar figure in Nevada since Alvarez-Golovkin II, earning $24,473,500.

Davis and Garcia are two of the most popular boxers, with large followings on social media.

“While I cannot officially confirm the final numbers at this time, it is clear that Gervonta versus Ryan delivered a memorable knockout in the ring and at the box office, while consolidating 1 place in Showtime in boxing,” Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza said in a statement to Fight Freaks Unite.

“We knew the event was going to be special and it had the potential to connect with an audience beyond hardcore boxing fans. Tank and Ryan have proven that when you’re up against the best, the sports world backs up.”

Davis (29-0.27 KOs) stopped Garcia (23-1.19 KOs) with a smack in the 7th Round in their 136-pound bout.
