Mike Tyson on potential Spence-Crawford showdown: “He’ll knock you down”
Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson seems to favor Terence Crawford, if the WBO welterweight champion ever fought a longtime opponent, and WBC, WBA and IBF champion Errol Spence Jr.
Talking to Mario Lopez on social media, photographed by FightHypeTyson outlined the key to a Crawford victory, one of which was primarily sustained movement.
Tyson told the Entertainment Tonight star:
“You can’t stand still with Spence, you have to move. [Crawford] have to move a lot, because if you stand still [Spence’ll] knock you down.”
Referring to Crawford as ‘The Master’, Tyson compared the two Crawford and Spence fight their common rival Shaun Porter as further proof that the former will prevail:
“Terence handled Porter too easily [10th round KO victory]while for Spence it was a battle of ups and downs [Spence won via a split decision]. “
Although he described Spence being ‘malicious’ and a ‘bigger’ by nature, he has not once dazzled Crawford as the winner, saying:
“Despite being a smaller guy and gaining weight, [Crawford has] have been successful with the big guys. “
Crawford of course fought at the low end of the 135 lbs light division, while Spence fought no less than the 147 lbs weight limit.
Whichever way you predict the fight, we can certainly agree with Mike that, if it’s ultimately done, this they will-they will not clash would be ‘A war in hell’.
