Gervonta Davis has heard his fair share of criticism about his selection of opponents.

With the Baltimore native now set to defend his second £135 title against Rolando “Rolly” Romero on May 28, at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, betting experts have rated Davis as the a remarkably popular tennis player.

While Romero was a source of criticism for his lack of experience in big fights, many assumed the lovable knockout artist would collapse under Davis’ power. However, despite public disapproval of his skills, Davis believes that Romero is the top boxer in light heavyweight.

Davis said in an interview with BoxingInsider.com when asked if Romero should be considered one of the top five light heavyweights. “He was fighting me, he had to be someone in that conversation.”

Romero, a former interim lightweight player, was bubbling and yearning to take on Davis. Though widely regarded as one of the best boxers in the sport, Romero is convinced that he not only knocked Davis unconscious but did so in the first round.

Regardless of his stage, Davis doesn’t lose sleep over what he believes are empty threats. The 27-year-old former world three-division star was originally scheduled to face Romero on December 5, 2021. But, due to alleged sexual assault, Romero was forced to withdraw from the upcoming match. their. In doing so, the once-temporary player focused his efforts on clearing his name, which he would successfully do a few months later.

While Romero deals with his legal issues, Davis is put into a contest against the rough and tumble Isaac Cruz. Although Cruz had many successful moments, Davis had to overlook a left hand injury to score a decisive victory.

As Davis is currently continuing his training camp for a fierce match with Romero, the tough 27-year-old is fearless about what he has to offer. That said, though, Davis knows full well that once the opening bell rings, Romero will lunge forward to try to put him in a coma.

“I took nothing from him. I know what he’s going to do and it’s up to me to just adapt and win. ”
