important site Pleiteticker.de reports here about how the buildings of the Bundestag (Federal Parliament) would not be able to convert to heat pumps without a comprehensive renovation that could amount to millions.
Currently, the Bundestag is mainly heated by oil and gas or biodiesel, According to the Bundestag administration’s answer to a question by FDP member of parliament Torsten Herbst: By 2022, nearly 2.7 million liters of biodiesel were consumed, as well as about 1.1 million cubic meters of natural gas,” it said.
While the government requires citizens to convert, the Bundestag cannot!
Recall how the government plans to force the Germans to ditch their gas and oil heating systems and install heat pumps on their site, starting next year – a costly endeavor. The irony here, however, is that it was revealed that for the Bundestag, the heart of the German legislature, “a transition to electric heating is not currently possible,” reports Pleiteticker. “The German Bundestag heating systems are not suitable for existing heat pump systems due to the required inlet temperature up to 110 °C.”
Out of reach
Currently, the Federal Office for Building and Area Planning (BBR) is looking at structural and engineering possibilities to reduce the energy consumption of existing Bundestag buildings and developing a “concept long-term climate-neutral energy”. Somehow, however, the government expects private citizens to achieve the feat next year!
Pleiteticker summary: “At the same time, the Bundestag is required to install a new heating system from 2024 onwards that must be powered by at least 65% renewable energy. This will make installing a heat pump the only option for many people. However, the Bundestag itself cannot easily equip them for its buildings…”
But rest assured, the government will find a way to make their buildings climate-neutral, which is very expensive. Taxpayers will simply be forced to choose a return – no matter how large it is.
