Geely Boyue Cool launched in China – roughly the same size as Proton X70; 1.5T, 7TDCT; Starburst . vision design
Geely has revealed a new SUV called the Boyue Cool, which is expected to be open for pre-order in China this month ahead of its official launch in the first half of this year. According to the automaker, which targets younger car buyers, the ‘Cool’ in the model’s name stands for ‘Creativity, Prelude, Defying and Love’.
With dimensions of 4,510 mm long, 1,865 mm wide, 1,650 mm high and 2,701 mm wheelbase, the Boyue Cool is about the same size as Beads X70 we have here. In keeping with the target audience, Geely used the Starburst Vision design language for the SUV, with many angular shapes and sharp lines for a striking appearance.
This stylish approach is further accentuated by the large front grille featuring a distinctive insert design and Y-shaped exterior lighting elements that extend along the sides of the vehicle. Both the front and rear headlights also have their own light bars that link the assemblies, and they play a specific start sequence when the vehicle is locked or unlocked.
Inside, the asymmetrical dashboard houses a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a 13.2-inch vertical-format central touchscreen, the latter integrating almost all of the vehicle’s functions, including climate control, to reduce button clutter.
Meanwhile, the infotainment system is provided by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 system chip (SoC) that allows voice commands and facial recognition through the camera located right in front of the steering wheel.
Other features include 571-litre trunk space, 72-color ambient lighting, a large panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery and rear vents. The Boyue Cool is also equipped with SAE Level 2 semi-autonomous driving features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist, among others.
Power is provided by a 1.5-liter turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 181 PS (178 hp or 133 kW) and 290 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that drives the front wheels and Geely claims a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds.
