Following a meeting of the Executive Council of the International Federation of Horse Racing Bodies on 29 March, it was announced that Dominic Gardiner-Hill, Head of Disability at the British Racing Authority, had succeeds Phil Smith as Co-Chair of the Longines World Best Racehorse Rankings. The IFHA Executive Council unanimously endorsed Gardiner-Hill’s nomination by the European Commission on Patterns, and he joins Nigel Gray as the Commission’s Co-Chair. Smith has served as Co-Chair of the Longines World Best Horse Riding Committee since 2014.

I wish Dominic every success and I believe in him. that he and Nigel Gray will skillfully lead this Commission in the future.”
Gardiner-Hill joined BHA in 1993. After a stint as Deputy Head of Disability, Dominic took over as BHA’s Head of Disability in June 2018. He is a member of the Division of Disabilities Division. International Category and World Ranking since 1996 as well as a member. by the Executive Committee of the Longines World Best Horse Racing Ranking as of 2018.
Longines World Best Racehorse Ranking is equivalent to World Ranking of other major sports organizations such as ATP Tennis Ranking, World Golf Ranking, FIFA World Ranking for Ball rock and the IRB Rugby World Rankings. The Longines Ranking is based on rankings of horses running around the world from North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, Asia to Australia and New Zealand. The ratings are compiled under the auspices of the IFHA by racing officials and athletes with disabilities representing five continents, who compile the ranking order by agreeing on the ratings for each horse. The ranking is based on the performance of the horses in elite races held within the specified time, taking into account the fighting quality and performance of each horse. Throughout the year, the Longines Rankings are published at regular intervals and the aggregated annual rankings are published in January.
