Frank Gore Jr enters QB, helps lead South Mississippi to second win of the season
Southern Mississippi did not list a quarterback in its depth chart this week. It then hit the field and earned its second win of the season.
The Golden Eagles (2-9, 1-6 Conference USA) rotated four non-QBs for a spot in their 35-19 win at Louisiana Tech on Friday night, led by freshmen running to Frank Gore Jr. He completed 4 of 8 passes in 75 yards and two touchdowns. He also throws and intercepts.
Defender Antavious Willis is 3 against 3 in 32 meters and one touch. Backtracking Dajon Richard is 1 to 1 for 3 yards. Jakarius Caston’s lone pass attempt failed. Southen Miss finished with an 8 pass for 13 of 110 yards and three touchdowns. It darted 47 times in 184 yards and one touch of the ball.
Miss South have rotated midfield throughout the season as their starting players have been plagued with injuries. It didn’t have QBs on Friday.
Miss South is 1-9. The Eagles didn’t list QB on its depth chart ahead of tonight’s game against 3-7 Louisiana Tech.

Gore scored 1 yard in the first half to give the Golden Eagles a 7-3 lead. They groped in the opening lane, leading to their goal on the Louisiana Tech field. His first touchdown pass, nine yards from Jason Brownlee, came in the second half and gave Southern Miss a 14-6 lead.
With two minutes left of the half, Gore passed a 39-meter pass to Brownlee on a post, putting Southern Miss to 21-19.

As the Golden Eagles prepare next week for their season finale against the FIU, Gore is likely to spend more time in midfield.
