Mitzi came to us in 2009 on a cold November day in Mexico City. She crossed the border legally on her resident visa. She has since become a US citizen, learned to meow in English with the Texas twang and is the undisputed queen of the house. Here is her story:
My husband and I were outside a shoe repair shop when we heard a faint meow coming from a tire someone had thrown in the middle of the sidewalk. And appeared a tiny kitten in a suit, which immediately approached my husband and begged him to take her with him. He picked her up to keep her warm and so we walked around the neighborhood trying to find her mother or her human family.
The employees of a nearby flour mill where a few stray villagers lived had never seen her. We left our phone number with the shoe repair shop owner in case someone went looking for her. That night, we went to the store to pick up kitten supplies. The next morning, she went to the vet for shots, a bath (the vet will probably need to sew her hands up), a flea treatment, and a clean check-up. No one called to confirm her, but ever since we picked her up, we knew she was part of our family (we totally failed to foster).
Three days later, after processing her kitten visa, she flew back to the US with us. We paid a whopping $120 for her plane ticket. It was at that moment that she showed her true Siamese coat color and bit us and tried to roll our eyes and scream all the way from Mexico City to Dallas. Upon arrival, all the customs officers dabbed at her, despite her attempts to bite and scratch them. But with her magic power, she gave them a cute attack, so they forgot to clear her US entry.
She has never forgotten her royal lineage that dates back to the times of the Siamese kingdom, where Siamese cats were reserved for kings and royalty. She is tough and demanding and knows she was born to be loved.
Returning home, she was greeted by a committee of three cats, who immediately adopted her, perhaps regretting that she immediately became the hostess, turning all the other cats into humans. his servant. She would push other cats aside to eat their food, kick them out of a donut in bed to claim it as her own, and even eat our pasta and drink from our glasses. I! Drink from the kitten’s fountain that is below her. She woke us up early every morning to order the way she ordered, that breakfast would be served as soon as possible. She refuses to be accompanied at breakfast and prefers to eat alone, like a true royal.
Sometimes, she pulls off mischief, like stealing my tuna salad and cheese balls with her Bene Gesserits cat coat, which she commands with the power of her kitten voice.
Over the years, however, she has softened, and she has become a very sweet older citizen.
