Former Dallas Cowboys Player Gavin Escobar Is Dead


The Dallas Cowboys are mourning a former member of the team.

Gavin Escobar was one of two victims who died in a climbing accident near the Tahquitz Peak Fire Observatory in Southern California on September 28. He was 31 years old.

In a statement on TwitterThe Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire Department confirmed that Escobar and the other victim, who has been identified by authorities as 33 years old Chelsea Walsh—Both “died at the scene.”

Escobar, 47 years oldorder selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft, played five seasons in the league — four with the Cowboys as well as playing against the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs.

After being released from the Miami Dolphins in 2018, Escobar joined the San Diego Fleet of the newly formed American Football League, a professional minor league. In February 2022, Escobar became a firefighter, joining the Long Beach Fire Department in California.
