Ford are enjoying the immediate success of recent car releases. The Maverick and F-150 Lightning truck are all sold out and in high demand, but there will be more in store over the next few years. Recently Brand submit an application to demonstrate the automaker’s electrical intent for two pickup truckthe Maverick and forest ranger. Ford has trademarked “Maverick Lightning” and “Ranger Lightning,” which means we’re likely to see electric versions of both trucks soon.
The Maverick is only a year old and the Ranger will be fully updated in the coming months, but Ford is looking ahead. CarBuzz recently discovered trademark applications, filed by The Blue Oval, confirming what we already (mostly) know: Ford Maverick and Ranger will be electric and they will wear the Lightning badge, just like the big brother F-150.
Ford CEO Jim Farley left the cat a part out of pocket. Last year, he hinted that an electric Maverick was what he wanted to see. Big tease for new electric truck until the beginning of this year at F-150 Lightning reveal. At the event, Farley said Ford is working on an electric pickup that is “different from the F-150.”
Specifics on either electric truck don’t exist at this time, but Ranger may choose components from the F-150 Lightning. While Maverick has become the standard as a mixtureThe Ranger is not electrified, so we could see an electric Maverick and a hybrid Ranger named Lightning.
Ford is putting a lot of effort into its electrification goals at this point. The automaker plans to have electric vehicles account for half of global sales by 2030. It’s also hard to work. building Green Oval Citya billion-dollar, thousands-acre campus located outside of Memphis, Tenn. New facility and another in Kentucky will create 11,000 new jobs and support Ford’s the battery and electric vehicle production.
