Tun Mahathir explores Polestar 2 brought to him by DRB-Hicom – hopefully Proton will make its own EV

Early this morning, Dr. Tun Mahathir Mohamad approached and spoke privately with pole star 2with DRB-Hicom bringing a white car with the registration plate ‘WHX 2020’ to the former prime minister and founder of Proton.

The Polestar 2 is the second model from the independent electric arm co-owned by Volvo and its Chinese parent company Geely Holding, which also owns a 49.9% stake in Proton. Currently, the forklift is available in three variants, with battery capacities ranging from 69 to 78 kWh and power outputs from 408 PS (402 hp or 300 kW)/660 Nm to 231 PS (228 hp or 170 kW). kW)/330 Nm depending on whether it’s front- or all-wheel drive.

“I understand that with a single charge it can go up to 400 km. One full charge is enough to use this vehicle as usual. As for charging, it takes less than two hours to reach 100%. If charging with electricity at home, it takes about seven hours. However, it is not difficult nowadays as there are more than 1,000 charging stations across the country, so there is no problem charging the vehicle anywhere,” Mahathir wrote in a post on his official Facebook page.

He’s also a fan of the Polestar 2’s design, pointing to the EV’s frunk front trunk as well as the minimalist and futuristic cabin that integrates many of the car’s functions into the touchscreen infotainment system tablet-style application.

Mahathir also said that electric vehicles are the way forward to reduce pollution and that in most countries, local governments encourage the purchase of such zero-emission vehicles. However, he noted that while using EVs does not pollute the air because it emits no emissions, the electricity used to charge them comes from polluting power plants.

As a result, he said electric cars have not yet reached the stage where they are truly pollution-free, adding that hydrogen fuel cell cars could be a better alternative, although they has its own problems that need to be analyzed and solved. For now, he says electric cars are the way to go for cleaner air in cities. Mahathir ended his post by saying that he hopes Proton will be able to accelerate its development. electric vehicle project so that it can one day introduce its own EV to the market.
