Floyd Schofield impresses against Haskell Rhodes

Virgil Ortiz is expected to feature the Golden Boy card Saturday in San Antonio, when he is expected to face Eimantas Stanionis in a battle of rising talents. However, Ortiz was hospitalized after fainting in the days leading up to the game, wisely adjourning the match. Without a leader, the Golden Boy turned to the undefeated Floyd Scholfield in hopes of turning lemons into lemonade. And, sure, Scholfield looked impressive on Saturday night when he knocked out and decided Haskell Rhodes 28-4-1 in a main event that aired on DAZN. Schofield of Texas is clearly a fighter worth keeping an eye on at lightweight.
Indeed, Schofield was able to beat his man in the first round. Things didn’t get any better from then on for poor Rhodes. After being overwhelmed round after round, Schofield sent him to the mat not once but twice in the seventh inning. A brutal blow to the midfield left Rhodes down in the eighth round. Thanks to his merit, Rhodes was able to rise again and end the fight. However, the referee’s card only made it clear that Schofield was the winner. He may not have scored Saturday’s knockout goal, but Shofield impressed nonetheless.
