George Kambosos: “I Come With Bigger Names”

“I loved the fight with Haney,” lighthearted writer George Kambosos said in one Fighthub video released yesterday, “he’s got the WBC belt.” He then added that “Tank is also a great fighter… and Lomachenko,” he added. “I have to respect him.” To sum it all up, Kambosos claims he’s ready to really make his mark in the sport. “It all comes together,” said about the competition for names and potentials. “Ryan Garcia, I want to see him back in action.” Kambosos 20-0 surprised a lot of people last November when he deserved to be rising star Teofimo Lopez for Lopez’s titles. ”
Now, the 28-year-old Australian is eager to prove he’s not the recipient of a surprise win. “There will be no tuning wars,” he declares in the video. “Like I said, I’m cut from a different fabric.” Kambosos continued to separate himself from some of his countrymen. “I don’t look like this typical Aussie milking,” said Kambosos. “I go to the biggest names.” For Kambosos, a big win means it’s time to fight bigger battles. “I want to take more risks,” he said. Kambosos made it clear that he thinks he can go with his career at this point – but he’s not willing to do so.
“I could sit here and milk this now and try to make as much money as I can,” he said, “but that was never me, so we will fight for the best and continues to prove why he is number one, the emperor, in the light division. Kambosos was considered a faceless opponent when he slipped mid-rope in a long-delayed battle with Lopez last fall. He’s a contender, for sure, but it’s clear Lopez is expected to win and continue his career. However, the intrepid and skilled challenger made the most of his chance, fought brilliantly and went away with the victory of his life.
