Floyd Mayweather Talks to Davis, Haney, Stevenson: “The Tanks Get Paid”
Boxing fans can wait a while if they’re hoping to see Gervonta Davis play alongside Devin Haney or Shakur Stevenson.
Stevenson, the current unified Super Featherweight champion, looks set to join the ‘Tank’ at 135lbs, where Haney is the undisputed king of the division.
Haney, Davis, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Ryan Garcia, George Kambosos and possibly Stevenson make up half a dozen great artists who can create some great events.
Floyd Mayweather, who still promotes Davis despite their recent apparent differencesTank says they don’t need them.
The Hall of Famer spoke to FightHype about Davis and said that his patron would continue to do what he did.
“Shakur Stevenson, a hell fighter. Devin Haney, a hell fighter. But guess what? If Top Rank has Devin Haney and they have Shakur Stevenson, then they need to fight each other. Don’t worry about Tank”.
“People say Tank doesn’t do this or that and Tank doesn’t have this belt so guess if that’s true, don’t worry about Tank. Let Tank continue to do what Tank is doing. As long as Tank with Floyd and Al [Haymon] Tanks will always be good. He’ll be fine. “
“Shakur and Devin, I love them both. But if Top Rated feels like they have top fighters then guess what if you guys had top fighters you guys would do top fights. And Shakur knows my line is open, he can call me anytime. Devin knows my line is open, he can call me anytime”.
Mayweather went on to talk about boxer pay:
“One thing that I wouldn’t do is lie to those fighters.”
“I can’t say how much money these fighters make, it’s none of my business. But I do know one thing Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is getting paid like a milkmaid. That’s what I know. “
Davis last fought May 28 at Barclays Center, Brooklyn when he stopped Rolando’s loud rival ‘kt Rolly’ Romero for six rounds. WBA title holder ‘Normal’ undefeated been called by Ryan Garcia ever since on several occasions. ‘KingRy’ faces Javier Fortuna this Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
