Andy Ruiz Jr shows amazing heavyweight swing speed before the battle of Ortiz

Deep in the training camp for the battle with Luis Ortiz, Andy Ruiz Jr hit the pad with breakneck speed.

Wearing a t-shirt with a donut on the front – perhaps a cheeky nod to his fluctuating weight remarks in the past – the former heavyweight champion shows off a workout photo center in the gym.

A clip about YouTube channel PBC shows ‘Terminator’ unleashing quick and aggressive combos.

Ruiz Jr’s hand speed is trademark. It was a lightning-fast left-hander that rocked Anthony Joshua in their first bout, and from there he went on to stop AJ in the seventh round.

However, the Mexican boxer did not last long with the belt. It was in an immediate rematch where his commitment to the boxing lifestyle was called into question, and Joshua beat him by 12 rounds.

This training video, as short as possible, should give fans hope that the former champion is taking his camp seriously. He has a tough test ahead of Cuban veteran Luis Ortiz, who is on the verge of an injury-time win over Charles Martin.

Since losing the title, Ruiz has scored a decisive victory over Chris Arreola. Fans will want to see more of the fast and fearless fighting style that was on display that night in Madison Square Garden as he left the arena as world champion.

If Ruiz comes out on top when facing Ortiz, there are plenty of battles for him in the future. The duel with PBC’s stable friend, Deontay Wilder, seems the easiest.

Ruiz and Ortiz meet in the ring on September 4 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and the match will be shown live on FOX Pay-Per-View in the US.
