Chris Eubank Sr. calls for a boycott of his son’s fight with Conor Benn

Chris Eubank Sr. is calling for a boycott of Chris Eubank Jr.-Conor Benn fought Saturday over the weight claim endangering his son.

Principals agree with a catch weight of 157 pounds, three less than the average weight limit. Eubank Jr., 33, has fought from 160 to 168 in his entire career.

Elder Eubank said losing those 3 pounds could lead to a serious health problem.

“You know what below the limit of average weight at 33 at age 33 can do. This is how brain trauma happens,” Eubank Sr said on The Fight is Right podcast.

Both father and son engaged in fights in which their opponent suffered brain injuries and ended up in a coma, Eubank Sr. against Michael Watson in 1991 and Eubank Jr against Nick Blackwell in 2016.

Eubank Jr. (32-2, 23 KOs) has won six straight games since he lost to then £168 champion George Groves in 2018, including an impressive unanimous decision victory over Liam Williams at 160 in February.

Benn (21-0, 14 KOs) will go up from 147. He last fought in April, when he stop Chris van Heerden in two innings.
