Saints Row is a game full of climactic moments in a wild crime sandbox. Co-op is a big part of how we enhance that experience for players and allow them to experiment with all the different ways you can create chaos in the city of Santo Ileso. Here are my top 5 moments in the Saints Row co-op:
Top gun battles with best friends
Saints Row is a game that offers players a variety of weapons and abilities for them to explore. There’s no better time to experiment with the wild side of Saints Row than when playing with a friend. Take down suppressive fire with an assault rifle while your friend throws Thrustbuster to a few unsuspecting enemies and sends them flying.
Ridiculous player creation in semi-serious situations
Customization has long been a part of Saints Row, and one of the reasons is the experience in co-op. There’s nothing quite like seeing your best friend’s silly work pop up in the middle of a serious conversation with an NPC. If you’re like me, you immediately try and improve them by creating something even more exotic.
Smash a party at a mansion in a suit
There’s a moment in the campaign where, after saving one of your friends from being captured, you and your coworker break a party through costume. It’s the moment you both soar above the skyline of Santo Ileso and drop into a wave of chaos unfolding at a castle on the hill.
Prank
In Saints Row, we’ve added a new feature that allows players to prank each other while playing. Once you’ve built your prank meter by completing challenges, you can cash out and turn your opponent’s game into mailboxes, toilets, trash cans and the like. We’ve gone ahead and fully equipped these new forms so you can see these new characters in the game and cutscenes.
You can go further with a friend
Co-op allows players to split roles while taking on in-game situations. One example is when trying to steal an armored truck with a long magnet strapped to a helicopter. It’s hard to stack a tether on a truck while being hit by enemies – that’s where a single player can help those enemies for you and get you a better shot at the end of the operation. As the challenge increases in the game, it can sometimes be easier to call a friend for help.
