Fitness tracker for any watch: Baracoda’s BHeart brings sustainability to the wearable industry

At CES on Wednesday, medical technology company Baracoda introduced its fitness tracker, the first to be universally compatible with existing wearables. Baracoda’s BHeart can be used with a compatible watch strap.

BHeart uses energy-harvesting technology to recharge the battery using movement, body temperature, and ambient light. Sensors built into BHeart feed the data to a smartphone app compatible with iOS and Android devices for users to access their health data.

According to Baracoda, products like BHeart are setting the tone for the next era of medical technology, focused on integrating technology into existing objects and assets. That way, technology like BHeart can make it more sustainable and discreet.

Baracoda says its technology breaks down barriers that exist in today’s wearable fitness tracker market. These barriers include frequent charging, hard-to-read health data, and manual software updates.

“People of all ages and fitness levels need easier ways to track their health, so we have to design products that work for everyone’s lifestyle, including those who don’t. find today’s technology accessible or easy to maintain,” Baracoda CEO Thomas Serval said in a press release.

BHeart focuses on sustainability, with “energy autonomous design” and plastic-free manufacturing. BHart is made of sustainable materials, like leather and light alloys.

BHeart is also reusable as it can be added to the links of any watch the user owns, avoiding having to choose between your smartwatch or a more formal watch for those special occasion.

BHart is compatible with watches with lug widths from 18 to 22 mm; most standard watches have a lug width of 20 mm.

The price is quite affordable for a fitness tracker, as the BHart starts at $100, compared to more expensive competitors who have smartwatches that can run for hundreds of dollars. la.

Customers can purchase BHeart starting April 2023. The BHeart app will be available on the App Store in April and on the Google Play Store in June.
