Fitness guru Megan Group shares her inspirational morning routine

Wake up

How do you spend the first five minutes of the day? In ours Wake up we look at the morning routines of people we admire to inspire our own AM rituals and push ourselves forward. See all

Around the time I entered my thirties, I started exercising more consistently. Despite my years of wanting to establish a more consistent exercise routine, it never really stuck – until my whole workout motivation changed. Now, with each passing year, my reason for commuting every day is less about it making me lookand more about how it made me feel. And it turns out that increased energy and better moods are a lot more motivating than a certain jean size ever is.

That’s exactly what it’s like to be energizing, high in endorphin production for the vibe of life Megan Round was after she created her now famous dance-based fitness platform, Sculpture Association. I first heard about TSS when a few of my friends became obsessed with the cardio and sculptural combination of classes during lockdown – “How fun!” is a general way. The app really succeeded during the pandemic, when we were all looking for a way to mix up our movement and continue to feel good from the four walls of the house. As she said:

“My vision is to empower women through movement. I wanted to create a fun, effective, and simplified dance cardio class so everyone could join in and feel successful and strong, even without any dance experience. ”

For Megan, it’s also been a personal few years: she moved from New York to Los Angeles, got pregnant, gave birth (Harlow, age) and officially started working with her husband, now COO of The Sculptor Society. . And while Megan is naturally high-energy, she’s also honest about the challenges that come with navigating so much change at once — a feeling I think we can all relate to. . I love interviewing this powerhouse about the daily rituals that help her feel grounded in her transition, so read on for Megan Roup morning routine and how she stays inspired.

About navigation changes

What was your biggest learning in the past year?

So much has changed, so I’m learning how to build a strong support team so I can focus on what I do best. I work really hard and tend to take on a lot, and it’s important for me to realize that I need to rely more on others for support.

What do you do that keeps you present in the midst of change?

I really review my schedule and make sure I’m baking during the downtime. It allows me slow down, go out, and be more mindful. Dates can get very crowded and it’s easy to look up from my computer and realize the days go by blurry. It’s really about blocking time and tweaking my schedule to make the most of it.

Let’s start the morning routine of Megan Group…

What does a typical day look like to you?

Every day is different, but I always try to wake up around 6:30 a.m. with (her baby) Harlow. Depending on the day, I might shoot live on the Sculpt Society app, and then I usually initiate a zoom call with my team to review the week’s projects. I am also allocating time to create content for my social community through Tiktok and Instagram. I may be training a private client, working on partner content. And I’ve always been working behind the scenes creating content for the week on Sculpture Association, putting together playlists, and always listening to our community.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

Go have my coffee and lemonade, 5 minute diary, a moment of gratitude, and (if I have time) a short meditation. Then it’s time to get Harlow up.

My next step is to get moving – that’s very important to me in the morning, whether I’m teaching or making videos for myself. Being physically active helps me succeed during the day.

Describe your morning beauty routine from start to finish:

It’s a lot shorter now as a mother. But in an ideal world… I would 5 minutes dry brushing. Then I will apply serum, moisturizer, face oil, SPF, and primer. My hair is usually tied in a ponytail for practice.

In a few words, how would you describe your personal style?

Classic, simple and feminine.

What do you eat in the morning?

I am a believer in intuitive eating – I woke up and wondered if I was hungry. If I did, I would have an apple with almond butter, Ezekiel toast with butter and scrambled eggs, or a fruit smoothie.

Megan Group’s Protein Smoothie Recipe

  • Nut milk
  • A handful of spinach
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Frozen bananas
  • Nut butter
  • Protein powder
  • A little ice

Mix it all up and drink!

What will we always find in your fridge?

Eggs, coffee, almond milk, butter, ezekial bread. Lately, I’ve been enjoying Cottage Cheese and blueberries.

What are your favorite books?

One of the books that has had the biggest impact on my life is Women, Food, and God. It set me on a path to healing my relationships with myself and was my first taste of intuitive eating.

What’s always on your nightstand?

CBD, rose quartz crystals, my diary and the book I’m reading.

What’s your favorite getting ready soundtrack?

I love listening to the podcast How I Build This… or 90s hip hop music

If you could credit your success to one thing, what would it be?

I have a lot of perseverance. I have been told “no” many times in my professional bodybuilding career and I keep believing in yourselfnever give up, be my own cheerleader, know my vision and my why.

It’s not been an easy road to where I am. If people only knew how many times I’ve been told no, they would realize that it wasn’t an overnight success.

Filling in the blank:

I never leave the house without: Use my SPF and get my lip balm on my summer Fridays.

If there were more hours in the day, I would: Take a walk outside more.

The best routine in the morning: move my body with The Sculpt Society.

Worst Morning Habit: device time, usually the first thing I do in the morning, that’s a bad thing

One thing I would like to be known for is: Continue the mission to help women be confident and strong in their own body

One thing I fear the most: looking for work-life balance – still want to achieve a lot but make sure I’m there for Harlow.

The book I always recommend: Food for Women and God

One trait you need to be successful in life is: Tenacity

Bath or shower? I love a super hot shower with a Milk & Honey scrub and a Naturium shower gel
