Announced last week, The ultimate version of the BMW X3 appeared at the Auto Bavaria AutoFest at KL Base last weekend. Available in sDrive20i and xDrive30e form, the FE was shown in sDrive20i form at the event.

Sign out variations for upgrade G01 get a slight price increase compared to their standard siblings. In the case of the sDrive20i, it is priced at RM311,800 with the standard two-year warranty or RM338,500 with the optional five-year extended warranty and service package, which is RM7,000 more than the X3 sDrive20i M Sport.

Meanwhile, the X3 xDrive30e Final Edition is priced at RM357,800 with a standard two-year warranty or RM384,500 with a five-year extended warranty and service package, which is RM8,000 more than the X3 xDrive30e M Sport.

Both continue to be equipped with the M Sport package and the high-gloss Shadowline M package, but the latter gets a black kidney grille and exhaust finishes. Elsewhere, M Lights Shadowline darkens the internal structure of the headlights and taillights.

Other changes include gloss red brake calipers on the X3 xDrive30e FE instead of the blue on the regular car, and increased wheel size on the X3 sDrive20i FE – it now has the same 20-inch twin-spoke 787 M alloy wheels. The needle is as light as on the xDrive30e FE.

Additionally, both variants get adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, which is not available on regular M Sport versions, as well as a wireless charging pad. Specific to the X3 xDrive30e Final Edition is a new head-up display and Park Assist Plus feature, adding a 360-degree camera and Remote View 3D.

In addition, the equipment list and specifications are similar to those on the M Sport, including anthracite recliners, Vernasca leather seats, front sports seats, M leather steering wheel, three-zone climate control system and BMW Live Cockpit Plus with a 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Cluster and 10.25-inch central touchscreen.

The sDrive20i FE also features aluminum ‘Rhombus’ dark interior trim with Pearl Chrome highlights and HiFi sound system, while the xDrive30e variant improves on this with interior trim in sophisticated aluminum, again with Pearl Chrome accents and a Harman Kardon surround sound system.

Power and drivetrain remain unchanged, with the sDrive20i’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine continuing to deliver 184 PS (181 hp or 135 kW) and 300 Nm of torque. An 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission transmits power to the front wheels and the combination helps the car accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 215 km/h.

The xDrive30e plug-in hybrid version has the same engine and transmission as above but adds an electric motor with a capacity of 68 PS (67 horsepower or 50 kW) between the engine and transmission. The total nominal power of the system is 252 PS (248 horsepower or 185 kW) and 420 Nm.

The electric motor can temporarily deliver 109 PS (107 hp or 80 kW) when the XtraBoost function is activated, increasing power output to 292 PS (288 hp or 215 kW) for up to 10 seconds. In terms of performance, the xDrive30e accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 210 km/h.

The 12 kWh lithium-ion battery allows the xDrive30e to use only electric power for up to 50 km on the WLTP cycle. Charging takes 3.6 hours with a 3.7 kW wall-mounted AC box, or about six hours with a three-pin indoor outlet.

Exterior color options for the FE include Carbon Black, Alpine White and Brooklyn Gray M, while color options for the Vernasca leather seats are mocha or black with decorative stitching, while black options on xDrive30e FE has blue stitching.
