Stellantis Australia can finally confirm that they will bring Fiat 500e The city tram is here, with ridership expected to begin in the first half of 2023.
Small, classic electric vehicles (EVs) are always on local companies’ wish lists, but production is largely reserved for Europe.
This Australian news follows Fiat’s recent announcement that it plans to phase out all non-electric vehicles (hybrid and EV) in the UK from 1 July.
Stellantis Australia didn’t give much information on whether the current petrol Fiat 500 hatchback – a generation older design 500e EV – will continue to be offered here.

Fiat 500e:
The all-new Fiat 500e electric for the first time reveal the way back in March 2020 like the third generation Cinquecento.
Entry-level variants in the new 500e range have 70kW electric motor connected to a 23.8kWh The battery pack is claimed to be good for 180km within WLTP test coverage.
This powertrain supports 50kW fast charging, has a 0-100km/h confirmation time of 9.5 seconds, and has an electronically limited top speed of 135km/h.
Higher specification models are equipped 87kW bigger electric motor 42kWh lithium-ion battery with a variety of 320km.
It also boosts the maximum DC fast charging speed to 85kW, can sprint from 0-100km/h in 9.0 seconds, and has a top speed set to 150km/h.
The all-electric Fiat 500 is available in hatchback, convertible and one Hyundai Veloster-esque 3 + 1 hatchback body style. One High performance version is said to also launch in 2023 and be able to wear the Abarth badge.
Features available for the existing range include full LED headlights, 15- to 17-inch alloy wheels, “eco” leather trim, power-adjustable front seats, self-dimming rear-view mirrors, system 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen infotainment and a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and wireless phone charger.
Safety features extend to adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane center assist, traffic sign recognition and ‘Level 2’ self-driving capabilities.
When the all-electric Fiat 500e goes on sale in the country in the first half of 2023, it will compete with small entry-level EVs like Mini electricity, GWM Ora, BYD Atto 3, Cupra was born and Nissan Leaf.
