Fed Chair Powell meets Chinese counterpart Yi Gang


BEIJING — The heads of the central banks of the United States and China met in Washington, DC, on Tuesday. People’s Bank of China said in a statement on Friday.

PBoC Governor Yi Gang and US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell “exchange of views” on China-US economic and financial trends, the statement said, according to a translation by CNBC.

The meeting of the heads of the Fed and PBoC comes as political tensions between the world’s two largest economies escalate and Limited high-level interaction. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said This week she still hopes to visit Chinawithout specifying when.
