Faster charging, up to 320 miles of range, lower price

Ford on Tuesday confirmed a permanent price cut for the Mustang Mach-E line, along with 20 percent faster on-road charging and increased range of up to 20 miles for this year’s new model.

The automaker has also included a new engine unit designed in-house, and thermal changes should help the highest-performance versions accelerate faster than the Tesla Model Y Performance.

The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E is currently capable of 320 miles of range in rear-wheel drive form with a 91 kwh (usable) Extended Range battery pack, according to Ford, with numbers yet to be confirmed with EPA or up to 250 miles with the 72-kwh Standard Range package—both a 20-mile increase over 2023. Mach-E GT versions also get a 10-mile increase in their EPA-estimated range for the year 2024 and is expected to have Mach-E Racing coming at 265 miles.

According to Ford, when equipped with the larger package, the 2024 Mach-E can now go from 10-80% in just 36.2 minutes, 8.8 minutes faster than when the Mach-E debuted. The smaller standard range package clocks in at 32.3 minutes and is an improvement of 5.7 minutes.

In February, Ford cuts Mach-E price by thousands—on remaining 2023 models. While it made clear that those prices wouldn’t apply to 2024 models, it essentially left those prices unchanged, adjusting those new, much lower prices up only slightly for the year. 2024.

Ford has essentially switched to the base Select trim, with Standard Range battery, at $41,890. The Premium model in Standard Range form starts at $45,890.

The starting point for the Extended Range battery pack is Select Extended Range AWD (dual motor) or Premium Extended Range (rear-wheel drive), both at $48,890. The Premium line tops out with the addition of AWD, at $51,890.

The Sporty GT version of Mach-E 2024 costs $55,890. The performance upgrade costs $995 as a standalone option and $745 with the wheel and tire upgrade.

The previously leading California Route 1 model appears to have been dropped from the lineup for 2024.

Solid, high-performance rally theme Mustang Mach-E racing carries above the previously advertised $59,995 starting price ($61,890 with destination), including a larger battery and all-wheel drive. That model, expected to arrive later this spring, is an inch taller than the GT model and has minor exterior changes to suit the task.

Performance is much improved thanks to the new rear motor. With the optional Performance Upgrade, the Mach-E enables an additional 100 lb-ft of torque from the new powerplant, thanks to “an improved powertrain thermal modeling and control algorithm” and allows a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 11.8 seconds at 114 mph — which Ford claims beats the Tesla Model Y Performance.

GT models with the Performance Upgrade, as well as Rally versions, make 480 horsepower plus 700 lb-ft of torque, according to Ford, up from 600 lb-ft in the GT. The performance and output numbers of the rest of the Mach-E line are also significantly improved. For example, Ford quoted a 0-60 mph time of 6.3 seconds for the 2023 Mach-E Select in the smaller package, but for the 2024 it can achieve that speed in 5 ,6 seconds. Even the entry point for the AWD, Extended Range Select version, is listed at 4.1 seconds to 100 km/h.

Ford first announced the Performance Upgrade for the Mach-E in January, previewing it Bronze appearance package for Mach-E GT 2024which includes 20-inch bronze-painted alloy wheels, bronze-colored mesh grille, etc. It has now been detailed that it will cost an additional $1,995 for the GT and it also includes Ford Performance front seats, active shock absorbers and Brembo front brake calipers — items previously only available on the much higher-priced Performance Edition.

Ford also announced that it is currently fielding more than 15,000 Tesla Superchargers through its aggregated BlueOval Charging Network and usage Free Tesla chargerand the EV Routing function now works in conjunction with Google Maps via Android Auto or Apple Maps via Apple CarPlay.

While Ford makes it clear that the new hardware essentially allows for a number of improvements, Ford also says that the Mach-E’s improvements will involve both that and over-the-air software updates as well. plans. to “re-engineer” the Mach-E it will not save improvements for mid-cycle refreshes. Green Car Reports reached out to Ford to clarify whether these better numbers are reaching owners of 2023 and earlier Mach-E vehicles.
