Farm Sanctuary steps up with The Game Changers Executive Producer Nirva Kapasi Patel as New Board Chairman


Watkins Glen, NY (January 10, 2022) – As a patented attorney, biomedical engineer and most recently, Executive Producer of Game changer documentary — an evidence-based film featuring elite botanists—Nirva Kapasi Patel Ready for any challenge. With the new role as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Farm ReserveThe country’s founding farm animal conservation and advocacy organization, she will partner with Megan Watkins CEO to spearhead the legacy nonprofit’s commitment to addressing the full range of relevant social injustices rooted in livestock farming.

“What is bad for animals is bad for humans,” says Patel. “If we are to move agriculture to a more equitable and sustainable system, it is important that we address all the harms caused by livestock, and this means working closely together. with our colleagues on worker rights, food and environmental justice. I am honored to lead Farm Sanctuary’s Board of Directors during this time of rapid growth. ”

An avid animal rights advocate, Patel is a Global Policy Fellow of the Brooks McCormick Jr. Animal Law & Policy Program. at Harvard Law School. She previously served as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of Farm Sanctuary before her success Emily Deschanel in her role as President. Patel has worked in animal advocacy in Mumbai, India for nearly a decade, and in the US she has initiated a number of advocacy campaigns, including the successful push for a ban on trafficking. fur sales in Weston, MA. Patel also serves on the Organizing Committee of the International Vegetarian Film Festival, and is an Advisory Board Member of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA). She holds a BA in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University, a J.D. from the New England School of Law, and a Master’s degree in Animals and Public Policy from Tufts University. Her passion for animals is prophesied by the Jain philosophy of ahimsa (non-violence), which advocates a vegan lifestyle.

Rounding out the official composition of the Board of Directors is the current Secretary and former corporate securities lawyer Sandee Ting Simshauser, who will succeed Patel as Vice President; current and former member and COO of Sittercity, Naomi SachsWho will succeed? Anthony Milazzo as Treasurer; and current member and founder of the media company Mulberry & Astor, Chris Allieri, who will succeed Ting Simshauser as Secretary. Emily Deschanel will remain on the Board of Directors as a member.
