Fans on the fate of Aaron Judge’s record-setting home field ball
ARLINGTON, Texas – As he walked past an outside patio lounge at Globe Life Field, knocking out other fans and surrounded by a sea of cameras, it looked like Cory Youmans had hit a big win on home yard.
Instead, he hit the jackpot.
Youmans made a memorable catch on Tuesday night, winning the ball New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge debut for his US league record 62nd.
Historical souvenir that went to the top of Section 31 on the left court, a umpire’s hit to lead the second game of a day and night doubles against Texas Rangers. Youmans caught it on the fly.
Youmans, from Dallas, works in the financial world, and nothing predicts the value of the ball. With security officers surrounding him as he retrieved the ball for authentication, Youmans was asked what he planned to do with the prize.
“Good question. I haven’t thought about it,” he said.
After the Yankees lose 3-2Judge says he doesn’t own the ball at home.
“I don’t know where it is,” he said. “We’ll see what happens with that. It would be nice to get it back, but it’s a souvenir for a fan. He’s got a really good catch there, and they have every right to do that.”
Shortly after a local TV station posted a brief interview with Youmans on a boardwalk, Bri Amaranthus tweeted: “THIS IS MY HUMANITY.” Amaranthus works in the local media and is a cast member of ABC’s “The Bachelor”.
