F-Zero X is a follow-up to Online Conversion Extension Pack subscribers
But the series is still sluggish
It’s hard to pin down Nintendo’s rhythm when it comes to classic game announcements. That’s true of the NES and SNES games included with the Switch Online membership, and it’s certainly still true of the newly added Nintendo 64 games for Expansion Pack subscribers. Next, on March 11We had F-Zero X – a great choice as a deeper cut.
Nintendo 64 Days are some of my all-time favorites for the racing genre, so it will be fun (and crazy) to watch again F-Zero X with online multiplayer on Switch. If you’re coming in brand new, never mind the plain looking cars and tracks – it’s all about feeling. And simulation wise, until the Switch works, this looks pretty good at a glance.
While recent covers like Banjo-Kazooie and Majora’s mask feel like crowd lovers have no brains, F-Zero X has a smaller (but still very dedicated) following. I’m happy to see it reach a new audience, even if it’s bound by an expensive subscription service.
My last experience with F-Zero the series is F-Zero GX on the GameCube, it’s awesome, but it’s also insanely intense. Never a dull millisecond. Long time fan – so long! I will never forget that quote from Nintendo’s Takaya Imamura (who is now retired) about F-Zero hard to bring”without a big new idea. “There is probably more to the decision involved than that, but the current reality seems to sum up pretty well.
