Lightroom has a number of useful tools for organizing and working with large photo collections, and a particularly useful option is virtual copies. Coming to you from Anthony Morganti, this great video tutorial will show you the ins and outs of working with virtual copies in Lightroom. Virtual copies are exactly what they sound like: they’re copies of your images without actually creating multiple versions of the same file. In other words, they are simply multiple edits of the same image represented as separate photos in the Lightroom scroll. This allows you to, for example, create a color correction for a photo and a separate black and white edit if you want a printout of both. Or, if you’re not sure how you want to edit a photo, you can create multiple versions and choose later.
