While most genres place a great deal of emphasis on sharpness, it is often of particular importance in landscape photography. However, should we focus too much on it? We spend a lot of time discussing different ways to maximize sharpness in landscape photos, including things like aperture selection, focus stacking, post-processing techniques, etc. what’s more, sharpness is a sign of technical prowess and can bring out details in a complex scene, but we often sharpen photos to a large extent without considering what we want the image conveys and whether sharpening is actively complementing or counteracting it.
