EV available in the US with 800V fast charging, line reading technology

Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis unveiled an all-electric version of its GV70 SUV, called the Electrified GV70, on Friday at Auto Guangzhou 2021, China. And it has been confirmed that the model will come to North America.

The reveal fills in a missing piece in a recent report that Genesis may be planning to produce the GV70 EV in the US starting next year. At the time the report appeared, the GV70 EV was still unconfirmed for anywhere in the world – but for now, here it is.

The GV70 is one of this year’s most anticipated luxury cars and has been well received. It offers a V-6 turbo-4 or twin-turbo engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, adaptive suspension to help with cross-road multitasking (note the “exhaust-free skid plate” in the rear). ) and tackles canyon roads, and it packs it all into a stylish sports wagon form and one of the best interiors of any luxury car starting under $50,000. USD.

In Electronic form, Genesis only says that the GV70 has dual electric motors and can deliver up to 160 kw (483 hp) in boost mode, with 0-60 mph acceleration in 4 ,5 seconds. The brand does not commit to any range numbers.

Among many other standout tech features for the GV70 EV is the suspension technology passed down from the flagship SUV GV80. It scans the road ahead using the car’s front camera, adds data from the navigation system, to control the suspension.

Navigation data and road conditions are also factors taken into account by the new generation Electrified GV70 intelligent regenerative braking system, along with driving habits. The i-Pedal system offers something like single-pedal driving.

With the so-called universal fast charging system, the Electrified GV70 can be charged at 400 or 800 volts, and at a 350 kW fast charger it can be charged to 80% in less than 20 minutes, Genesis claims.

Electronic GV70, like Hyundai Ioniq 5, which includes a vehicle loading (V2L) function that allows it to be an auxiliary power bank, with a capacity of 3.6 kW to power electrical devices outside the vehicle.

To help deliver the advantages of full-time four-wheel drive but avoid unnecessary power loss, there’s also a disconnection system that can completely shut down an engine depending on driving conditions. Although Genesis did not confirm whether it is front or rear wheels, the internal combustion GV70 is built on a rear-wheel drive platform.

This version, called Active Noise Control-Road, measures and analyzes road noise using four sensors and eight microphones, creating out-of-phase audio to cancel it out.

Genesis has confirmed that the brand’s US rollout of electric vehicles will include GV60 . power crossover and a production version of G80 electrified sedan. With the Electrified GV70, Genesis will have quite a few EV options — and a great development path has already been outlined.
