Errol Spence Jr has never been shy about throwing in the ring.

The current unified weight champion title is just a few weeks away from usurping teammate, WBA champion, Yordenis Ugas. If the outgoing Dallas-born player wins on April 16 at AT&T Stadium, in Arlington, Texas, he will seek to strip Terence Crawford of his WBO title.

Although the 32-year-old is focusing on summing up every world title at 147 pounds, he believes his era as a full-fledged heavyweight is coming to an end. Whenever Spence Jr officially decides to take the seven-pound hike north, he could face an interesting dilemma.

Currently, Jermell Charlo, his close friend and stable friend, holds three of his four world titles at £154. In addition to Charlo’s extensive hardware collection, he’s just a few months away from taking on the role of Brian Castano for the final piece of the young middle-class undisputed puzzle.

Initially, having fought several times and growing closer, Spence Jr rejected the idea of face-to-face with Charlo. That said, everything comes with a price tag.

“I think so,” Spence Jr said on the DAZN Boxing Show when asked if he would be ready to fight Charlo. “If it makes sense in terms of money.”

In addition to the close friendship they share, both Charlo and Spence Jr are mentored by world-renowned trainer Derrick James, making their competition even more unrealistic.

However, regardless of whether they eventually go head to head, Spence Jr has stated time and time again that the 147 pounder’s era will soon be over. In a perfect world, Spence Jr would have successfully stripped Ugas of his WBA title. Then, at last, the long-awaited showdown between Spence Jr and Crawford will take place.

Win or lose, Spence Jr will officially wash his hands in the welterweight division and strive to make his name in the higher weight division.

In the end, the powerful male god did not simply consider Charlo as a friend but also more than a brother. However, if they are indeed brothers, Spence Jr believes a confrontation between them could turn out to be financially beneficial.

“We are brothers,” Spence said. “You have to break the bread, don’t you?”
