Eddie Hearn provides update on possible battle between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr
Eddie Hearn says that despite speculation, Conor Benn will not be fighting Chris Eubank Jr.
Rumors surfaced online that the two British stars were in talks to face each other despite the fighting 13lbs weight separating them. The news of a big fight for heavyweight Benn was posted on social media but Hearn to Boxing Social’s Ayman Khan it won’t go up against middleweight Eubank Jr.
“That war was like a war in fantasy, a once-in-a-generation war.”
“Are we interested in it? Of course. Is it closed? No. It’s not one of those battles we’re ending up with. “
“If given the opportunity, of course we would do that fight but we have not talked in depth with Kalle Sauerland (Eubank promoter) about that. We’ll see where it goes. “
Hearn went on to reveal the only fight that Benn and his team wanted.
“We want Keith Thurman Fight. That was the fight Conor Benn wanted. It’s the fight he loves at 147lbs, we’ll see what happens. “
Thurman recently told Podcast Premier Boxing Champions that he hopes to return in October after initially considering a fight this summer. The former WBA Welterweight champion is placed either above or below the top ten rankings of all four governing bodies.
