Eddie Hearn: “How can you say that Charlo is a stronger fighter than Bivol? Who did Charlo beat? ”

Since officially refusing to accept Al Haymon and Premier Boxing Champions’ two-fight offers, promoter Eddie Hearn has become suspicious of the ongoing narrative surrounding Alvarez’s decision.
Since the moment the Mexican star grabbed his final £168 title following an 11th round win over Caleb Plant in November 2021, Alvarez has received numerous offers.
Initially, Haymon hung a two-match deal in the face of Alvarez. Among the names mentioned in the aforementioned deal, was a 168-pound showdown with current WBC middleweight champion, Jermall Charlo.
In the end, Alvarez found Hearn’s proposal more appealing. In just a few short hours, on May 7, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Alvarez will be first on his three-match deal with Hearn as he takes on the heavyweight heavyweight. lightweight WBA Dmitry. Bivol.
As soon as Alvarez entered his name on the dotted line, Charlo fans were full of praise for the Mexican star’s choice. As his loyal supporters continue to openly support their man as a more difficult fighter to deal with than Bivol, Hearn believes people have lost their minds.
“How can you say that Charlo is a tougher fight than Bivol at 175 pounds?” Hearn told a group of reporters. “Who did Charlo beat?”
The normally successful knockout artist from Houston, Texas, has repeatedly called for a fight with Alvarez. He continues his tradition following a unanimous decision victory over Juan Macias Montiel in June 2021.
In an attempt to lure his men into the ring, Charlo, who has never competed over 160 pounds, has publicly revealed that he would gladly accept Alvarez’s weight requirements by fighting with as an official super average.
In the end, after Alvarez decided to go in a different direction, the Charlo team pursued a middleweight showdown with high ranking opponent, Jaime Munguia. Although both sides of the fight agreed to the financial part of their deal, disagreements over the network pushed their duel to the side.
Despite the constant change of opponents, Charlo has tackled a new enemy. On June 18, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, Charlo will go head-to-head with competitor Maciej Sulecki.
Upon hearing the news, Hearn became surprised at Charlo’s choice of opponents. In the end, though, Hearn doesn’t want to place the blame entirely on Charlo’s feet for what he believes are side enemies. Instead, the longtime promoter looks directly to the Premier Boxing Champions for what he sees as side matchmaking.
“Sulecki? I don’t blame Charlo because he’s fighting someone he’s not even motivated to fight. Charlo is an outstanding fighter but you won’t see that unless he steps up and fights for real. Get him in with (Caleb) Plant, get him in with (David) Benavidez. ”
