Echo Zulu back to work tab
It’s working again for Echo Zulu August 17 at Racecourse Saratoga.
The 3-year-old, owned by L and N Racing and Winchell Thoroughbreds, had her first recorded show of form since June 5 when she went four times with a ratio:53.64 on the Oklahoma Practice Road .
“It’s not a surprise,” said David Fiske, race manager for Winchell Thoroughbreds. “She’s been in Saratoga for a few weeks and is ready to work. The only unplanned part was that the job was pushed forward by a day due to potential weather. We just wanted her to stretch her legs and not do anything. too serious. “
Echo Zulu, last year’s Eclipse award-winning 2-year-old Eclipse, was scratched off Acorn Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park. Fiske said after the June 11 race, the little girl was examined “from nose to tail” and she received a clean health certificate.
“We took her for a walk for a few weeks,” Fiske said. “If she were any other horse, we’d probably go ahead with her. She’s pretty valuable, and we tend to treat her with baby gloves.”
Fiske said that Echo Zulu, the daughter of the second top breeder Gunman never left coach Steve Asmussen’s warehouse in the Hall of Fame.
There is no schedule for the next start of the Echo Zulu.
“We just wanted to give her a bit of a break,” Fiske said, “and then bring her back and hopefully have some more wins at the end of the year.”
Echo Zulu hasn’t run since ending Wednesday, May 6 in Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs. In her only other start this year, she won at Twinspires.com Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) March 26.
During last year’s championship season, the Echo Zulu won all four starts, three of which were tier-1 races. The culmination of the season was victory in the NetJets Breeders’ Junior Cup. adult (G1) at Del Mar.
